I started this food blog to share my experience on a ketogenic diet. I have tried many different diets to lose weight. Some of them have been somewhat successful. But, most diets took much sacrifice. I would always end up quitting and going back to my old ways. Once I started keto, I knew it was for me.
Starting a ketogenic diet can be overwhelming at first, so I plan to give insight on the subject and start a conversation.
What is Keto?
Keto is a low-carb, moderate protein, high fat diet. When your body is deprived of carbohydrates, your liver releases chemicals called ketones. This state is called ketosis. Your body will break down fat to make ketones. There are many more benefits to keto other than just weight loss, including cognitive benefits.
I am not a medical professional and offer no medical advice. This is my story. I will stay up to date with my site and continue to research and share what I learn.
I’m going to share some recipes I have learned as well as some of my own creations. I will create a keto shopping list. I will also track what I am eating day to day.
Ok here we go….
These results are after 2 months. (7/13/2020) I will do my best to keep this site updated. So far I am down 35 pounds, and I plan to lose more. I have always been sensitive about my weight. I have been on MANY diets throughout my 32 years of life. Finally, I found Keto.
In 2019 I tried something different. I was tired of being overweight, so tried some going vegan. I lost weight but I was miserable. After six months I went back to the standard American diet. In march of 2020 I saw one of my customers come in to my work and he had lost a ton of weight. We all asked what his secret was. He said keto. I started to research. I listened to podcast and lots of Youtube videos.
10 Pounds after one month
One month down and I had lost 10 pounds. The best part was that I loved the foods that I was eating. I became burned out on eggs and bacon though. I was doing what they call “dirty keto”. I was ordering burgers from fast food restaurants and throwing the bun away. The problem is that, as we all know, fast food is extremely unhealthy. Now I try to eat cleaner but when you are first starting out, there is nothing wrong with dirty keto, in my opinion. You will still lose weight.
So, lets talk cognitive benefits. Most people talk about being able to think more clearly after starting keto. In my experience, this is absolutely the case. Again, I am not doctor or scientist. It works because your brain operates more efficient on ketones. There is a ton of science to this but I wont bore you with the details. One day soon I will make a blog about it. …
What I can say is that the keto diet significantly reduced my anxiety and depression. I have suffered from both since I was in high school. Don’t take my word for it though. Try keto yourself and see how you feel after a few weeks!
to be continued….
